We are joined in the #TortoiseShack by Amy Hourigan, who is one of the workers who are known as ‘The Debenhams Workers’. Amy talks us through the sequence of events that led to the mass dismissal of Debenhams workers by email and the subsequent protests which led to workers being moved on and eventually arrested for their fight for a fair redundancy package. There is a lot of politicisation of this Strike and the general public have perceived a double standard in the treatment meted out to this Strikes and some of the “Protest” movements of recent weeks.
