We talk about the recent closure of schools and shift to on-line learning, the failures of the Department of Education and Government to seriously engage with educators, parents and students. We look at the failure to plan for the pandemic by the Department, to take creative and nuanced approaches to opening schools and on-line education and the need to address inequalities in society and home based emergency education. We also look at ways to open safely, the need to rethink the purpose of education, to prioritise student and educators wellbeing.
