114. Making a Society for Children: The Ombudsman for Children, Dr Niall Muldoon

This Reboot Republic talks with the Ombudsman for Children, Niall Mulldoon. Niall outlines his experience of his first five years as Ombudsman and the key issues he wants to focus on as he starts his second five year term. We discuss issues of mental health and children and young people, the inadequate services and need for holistic approach.

Niall also explains the impact of homelessness and housing insecurity as a traumatic experience for children, that the Government is in breach of the right to the child in terms of homeless children, and why we need a referendum on the right to housing, a serious plan to end homelessness, tackle child poverty and his vision for an Ireland that really protects, nurtures and values all children.
