188. Broken Ireland – David’s Story: 62 and Facing Eviction

This Reboot Republic talks once more to David, a 62 year old fork lift driver living in North Dublin. David and his partner have been renting their home from their landlord for ten years, but now they have to leave in 8 weeks as the landlord is selling up. David and his partner were looking forward to their golden years retiring in a place they could call home. But now that is gone He is very emotional as he describes the impact of losing his home, the impact on his mental health, of losing his memories, the shed he did up, and the impact on him and his partner. He wants to tell his story so that others will share theirs too and see they are not alone. He wants the Government to act and give tenants real life time security of tenure – so they can have a home.
