Patricia King #RaiseTheRoof Ep. 17

In this podcast we traveled to speak with Patricia King, General Secretary of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU). In the Podcast Patricia outlines ICTU’s concerns with the housing crisis and their call for unions and civil society to take part in the upcoming Raise the Roof rally on the housing crisis set for October 3rd.

Patricia also talks about the impact of the housing crisis on workers and how the ‘jury is out’ on whether the government and Minister for Housing is actually listening to ICTU’s views on housing policy in the employer-union forum. The discussion also touches on the right to housing, the need for a housing movement to change policy and failings of Rebuilding Ireland and the over-reliance of government policy on HAP and private developers.
